Transforming Choice was founded in 2012 by Carol Hamlett, John Mayhew and Donna McDonald, who, after working within the homelessness sector for a number of years, had become frustrated with the ‘revolving door’ of people who seemed to circulate between the streets, hostels and the criminal justice system, but never really gain the opportunity they needed to turn their lives around. After trialling their concept in Wales with great success, the trio went about putting everything they had into launching Transforming Choice.

Since inception, over 350 people have accessed the detox and rehabilitation programme at Transforming Choice, around 86% of whom have completed the programme. 16 residents have gone on to work with us following their graduation from the programme, and many more have gone on to live happier and healthier lives, free from alcohol and other substances.
